SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – ‘Tis the season to be thinking about others– especially those in need. The moving company is Two Men and a Truck. The husband-wife team that owns the two local franchises have a special place in their hearts for the military. So, when they bought the franchises 8 years ago, they started up with helping military veterans right away.
We talked to co-owner Alicia Sorber Gallegos. “Obviously, being in San Diego, the huge military presence here,” she said. “We wanted to do something for veterans-in-need, you see the homeless situation and we wanted to do something about it.” Every year at this time, the company has teamed up with other local businesses, some of whom are clients, to collect needed clothing and toiletries for veterans in need. They’ve always partnered with Veterans Village of San Diego and that was the case today.
Only the delivery point changed. Rather they drop off the goods at the Veterans Village warehouse, they decided to get the items immediately into the hands of the homeless veterans staying at the bridge shelter operated Veterans Village.
Needless to say, the vets were especially thankful. We spoke with one who was wearing shorts and flip-flops. Not conducive to the coming Thanksgiving weather.
